OnlyOffice is the only free Microsoft Office alternative I have used that opens complex .docx and .xlsx files without breaking the layout. We deployed the self-hosted Community edition for a 35-person team and the integration with Nextcloud has been flawless. AI assistant additions in 2025 are a real bonus for the price.

For our small consultancy OnlyOffice DocSpace has replaced Google Workspace at a fraction of the cost — Business plan only charges for admins, which is unique and incredibly cost-effective. Real-time co-editing is genuinely smooth and the built-in audio calls inside the editor are a clever touch.

Switched our 200-person company from Microsoft 365 to OnlyOffice self-hosted. Compatibility with existing .docx and .xlsx files is the best I have seen in any non-Microsoft suite. Customer support has been a little slow on a couple of tickets but the product itself has been rock solid for nine months running.
